Program Highlights
Summer Nursing Internship Program
This is a 10-week paid program designed to provide RN students with a structured, clinically oriented learning experience within an urban health plan. Interns apply foundational nursing knowledge in a population health setting while supporting evidence-based outreach, care coordination, and member education for our members. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current operational and clinical workflow challenges, strengthen member experience, and deliver measurable solutions aligned to quality and service goals.
Summer Medical Internship Program
This 4-week elective medical rotation provides students with an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of Healthfirst’s unique value-based care model, learn about the importance of quality equitable care and the role of the managed care organization in supporting this mission. During the first half of the program, a 2-week learning intensive, students are exposed to various key facets of the business of healthcare, including pharmacy, data analytics, medical economics, Medicare and Medicaid product overviews, and more. The Program culminates in a final project presentation.
Neurodiversity Internship Program
The Neurodiversity Internship Program, sponsored by the HEART Connections Group, supported by Human Resources, and in partnership with Specialisterne, gives opportunities for neurodiverse individuals to make an impact on our organization as a paid, full-time intern in our Summer Internship Program.
