Description and Requirements

The Senior Benefits Analyst will be providing support for the Benefits Administration, Benefits Renewal Strategy and ensuring the successful completion of the Open Enrollment process.

~Hybrid Work Schedule consists of reporting to our 100 Church Street, NYC office 3 days per week~

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • With direction from the Benefits Team, assists in the development and execution of a comprehensive benefits strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, culture, and budget. That includes, but not limited to; medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FMLA, disability and 401(k).

  • Possesses a superior technical knowledge of the workings of group insurance plans – plan documents, summary plan descriptions and other insurance mechanisms. 

  • Serves as a resource for employees and managers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing guidance on benefits-related matters.

  • Monitors the effectiveness and utilization of benefits programs, conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. 

  •  Analyzes benefits data and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and identify areas for improvement.

  • Assists with the implementation and communication of all new and health and welfare, retirement, and employee recognition programs.  

  • Prepares and distributes benefits communications, including plan documents, summary plan descriptions and open enrollment materials.   

  • Engages in training and development both internally and externally to enhance expertise in benefits design and analysis, and plan management and administration.       

  • Is responsible for spearheading onsite or virtual benefit events, such as, monthly webinars, Annual Wellness fair and Bring Your Child to Work Day.

  • Assists with any other benefits related administrative functions as assigned.

Compliance And Risk Management

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to employee benefits, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and monitors changes in legislation, making necessary adjustments to benefits programs and policies.

  • Collaborates with vendor management, legal and compliance teams to develop and maintain documentation and reporting necessary for audits and regulatory filings.

  • Works closely with external auditors and consultants to ensure accurate and timely completion of benefits-related audits and filings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a consulting firm or benefits department with exposure to health and wellness program development

  • Prior experience working with employee data and/or assisting employees with medical, dental and other benefits questions

  • Experience working with a medical self-funded plan

  • Knowledgeable about principles, practices and procedures of benefits administration

  • Experience with various retirement plan approaches including 401(k) and non-qualified plans

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus 2-4 years of experience in Benefits Administration Management OR high school diploma plus 5 years in Benefits Administration Management

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge

  • Experience with HRIS systems, Workday experience a plus

  • Strong oral and written communication

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $81,100 - $117,470

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $71,600 - $106,505

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
