Description and Requirements
The Pharmacy Residency program is a year-long program that will provide the Resident a thorough understanding of a pharmacist's role in the managed care setting. After completing this program, the resident will have expanded their clinical experience and developed a comprehensive set of managed care skills through core rotations, longitudinal experiences and elective rotations. This experience includes hands-on training in medication therapy management, behavioral health, government affairs, and academia, to name a few. In the ever-changing managed care environment, the pharmacist plays a key role in providing access to cost-effective care that will improve patient outcomes. The Healthfirst Managed Care Pharmacy Residency program is designed to provide the skill set needed for success.
•Design and participate in regular evaluations of program site design and Resident performance using a systems-based approach
•Assist in the ASHP accreditation process for the Residency program by drafting applicable policies and procedures while engaging in activities compliant with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable national standards
•Engage in activities to achieve the following program outcomes:
◦Understand how to manage the drug distribution process for an organization’s members
◦Design and implement clinical programs to enhance the efficacy of patient care
◦Ensure the safety and quality of the medication-use system
◦Provide medication and practice-related information, education and/or training
◦Collaborate with plan sponsors to design effective benefit structures to service a specific population’s needs.
◦Exercise leadership and practice management skills.
◦Demonstrate project management skills.
•Participate in the St. John’s University Teaching Certificate Program (optional)
•Engage in scholarly and research activities
•Design and implement adherence programs and clinical protocols for core disease states to ensure optimal patient outcomes
•Serve as a co-preceptor for student pharmacists from affiliated schools of pharmacy
•Monitor and report the specialty and biotech drug pipeline
•Participate in the development, training and implementation of continuous quality improvement processes to enhance service levels and efficiency
•Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
I PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
I Eligible for NY licensure
Preferred Qualifications:
| Experience in Managed Care Pharmacy
| Participation in Pharmacy Practice Organization (i.e. Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy)
| Excellent computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel
Hiring Range*:
Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $48,600 - $65,960
All Other Locations (within approved locations): $42,200 - $62,400
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
