Description and Requirements

The Director, Organizational Design and Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) will contribute to our business growth and effectiveness by defining, and then implementing across the enterprise standard, sustainable approaches to organizational design and strategic workforce planning. The core of this position is ensuring Healthfirst has the right structures, processes, skills, talent, and environment to efficiently and cost-effectively deliver our mission and business strategy now and in the future. The person in this role will define our approach, tools, and processes for organizational design and strategic workforce planning, then in collaboration with Senior Leaders and members of our HR team, implement these initiatives across our enterprise. This high-profile role reports to the VP Organizational Development and is part of a collaborative OD team. As such, this person will also engage with others as a subject matter expert and/or participate in other Organizational Development and Organizational Effectiveness initiatives. This provides excellent opportunities to share broader expertise and grow as an OD professional. In general, the person in this role will lead large-scale projects, programs, or initiatives, ensuring alignment with business needs and the timely implementation of practical content and materials focused on end-user experience, and in collaboration with a variety of internal and external partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary designer and lead on a variety of enterprise OD and OE initiatives focused on, but not limited to, Organizational Design and Strategic Workforce Planning.

    • Develop the enterprise approach, frameworks, and tools to implement organizational design and strategic workforce planning across the organization.

      • The approach/frameworks must be based on proven, science-backed methods.

      • All tools, content, processes, and communications must be efficient, simple, and user-friendly.

    • Promote, implement, and facilitate the use of the concepts, methods, processes, and tools across the organization and build these skills in leaders and HR business partners.

    • Create assessments and measure the impact of initiatives, leading to continuous improvement.

  • Act as a collaborative internal consultant and subject matter expert.

    • Identify root causes of individual/team/organizational needs using qualitative and quantitative information and scientific methods.

    • Recommend proven, research-based solutions which increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

    • Implement solutions by partnering with and influencing senior leaders, HR colleagues, and external vendors as needed.

  • Align and collaborate with senior HR business partners to diagnose organizational and team needs, then design and implement initiatives/projects aimed at increasing individual, team, or organizational effectiveness.

  • Ensure belonging, equity, and inclusion is input and output in all work.

  • Actively participate in external/internal networks and research to remain current with research, new technology, innovations, and emerging industry talent.

  • Freely and generously develop those around you with interest in your field.

  • Identify and collaborate with external vendors and partners as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in organizational design and strategic workforce planning

  • 7+ years’ experience leading complex, enterprise-wide initiatives and the development and implementation of impactful OD/OE interventions.

  • Science and research-based knowledge in a variety of topics related to Organizational Development and Organizational Effectiveness.

  • Strong facilitation, consulting, and influence skills across a variety of audiences.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications and content: concise, clear, simple, visually appealing, and jargon free.

  • Proven ability to manage and collaborate with senior stakeholders and across HR.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related field.

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $150,800 - $230,690

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $124,400 - $190,315

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
