Description and Requirements
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Maintains familiarity with all requirements of law and regulation affecting the operation of a managed care company in New York, with particular focus on provider contracting and risk transaction regulatory frameworks.
- Provides legal support to provider relations and finance on business and strategic initiatives of the company and answers inquiries from staff regarding legal issues.
- Work with supervising Vice President, to advise Chief Legal Officer and other managers regarding legal, regulatory and business options available to the company.
- In coordination with and overseen by the supervising Vice President, directly performs legal tasks of a varying nature which are attendant to the operation of a nonprofit health care corporation, including but not limited, to the preparation and negotiation of provider, procurement, and other contracts affecting Healthfirst, the interpretation and dissemination of new legal requirements, obtaining approval from the New York State Departments of Health and Insurance for contracts and other actions.
- Assists in maintaining records and preparing resolutions and Board materials for meetings of Healthfirst, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D Degree
- 2-4 years of experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Provider contracting experience preferred.
- Healthcare regulatory experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to staff and management colleagues.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; acute attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency utilizing MS Office Suite.
Compliance/Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Advises General Counsel and other managers regarding legal, regulatory and business options available to the company.
License/Certification:
- Juris Doctor and State License
Hiring Range*:
Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $150,800 - $230,690
All Other Locations (within approved locations): $124,400 - $190,315
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
