Help Keep New Yorkers Healthy
Join Our Nursing Team!

Assessment nurses play a vital role in serving our 1.8 million members. The responsibilities of an assessment nurse involve conducting home assessments for prospective members and reassessments of current members. These home visits can include evaluating members’ needs for a home attendant, noting changes in their condition, or even teaching them about their own prescribed medication. Many of our assessment nurses are bilingual. Bilingualism allows for a superior member experience in that our members feel connected and comfortable opening their doors to people who speak their language and look like them.

What our employees are saying

Healthfirst is driven by our members. They are our North Star. While out in the field assessing members and determining how Healthfirst can best meet their needs, I’m most proud to work in the Bronx where I was born and raised. I get to learn even more about my home borough and strengthen my Spanish speaking skills.

Noemi Belis Assessment Nurse, Clinical Eligibility
My career at Healthfirst started about 10 years ago as an assessment nurse for the reassessment PHSP plan. Since that time, numerous changes have taken place that required adapting and learning new workflows. All this was made seamless through our team’s effort in giving us nurses the tools, resources and mentoring we needed throughout these changes. I have been able to readily work through the various changes in the workplace due to the support received from upper management.
